Will Wikileaks make America stronger or weaker?
There seem to be two groups of Wikileaks supporters.
1. Ron Paul supporters who say that Wikileaks will create more transparency, which is what the Founders would have wanted and will lead to a stronger America. When asked if there are any things that the government should keep secret, such as nuclear launch codes, Paul supporters point out that you should just trust them on this because they know everything about politics since they took a government class in high-school, read several paragraphs from Thomas Jefferson’s wikipedia page and subscribe to Ron Paul’s twitter feed.
2. Anti-American foreigners/Anarchists who think that Wikileaks will bring down, or at the very least weaken America. They claim once America is gone there will be world peace because as everyone knows George Washington invented war in 1776.
Which of these two pro-Wikileaks groups do you think is correct? Will Wikileaks strengthen or weaken America?
I’m hoping the leaks will rock the boat a bit. America needs to be brought down a peg. Transparency in government is vital to ensuring a free, democratic society. Censorship merely prolongs the inevitable. How long do you honestly think China will be able to hold up under its current model of lies and corruption. It won’t. And unless America begins to implement transparency laws and enforce them, it will follow down a similar road.
