How to promote my Charity Hike?
I’m walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall, which stretches across the UK for those that don’t know – 84 miles in 4 days, camping along the route.
The charity I’m doing this for is MIND.
Anyway, I’d like to know how I can promote my online charity donation page on virgin money giving (I won’t give the link because I think it’s against the rules here?)
So far I have:
Asked friends and family
Passed it around work
Posted the link on my facebook profile (300 friends)
Posted the link on a facebook page I admin (1,111 members)
Posted on Twitter (150 followers)
Asked family members to post on their Facebook accounts
Asked family members to ask around their places of work
Is there anything else I can do?
You’ve done a good job of promoting your hike. To be realistic — you have reached everyone who might give to this effort. Focus your efforts not on finding new people to reach, but reminding your network of what you are doing, to turn more of them into donors. That means posting regularly to all the online avenues you’ve just mentioned:
– thank your latest donors
– post an update about your preparations, your fears, your challenges
– post something interesting about the charity you are supporting
– post during the walk, letting people know it’s not too late to donate
– post updates about how much money you have raised
– post about why you have chosen the charity you have
