Need help with TV selection?
I have done some extensive research on HD TVs lately. Obviously I figured out 1080p is the best display. But should I refer to 720p/1080i instead of 1080p as HD TV channels will only display in 720p due to bandwidth issues? Also, when a 720p50 (1280x720res) is interlaced to 1080i25 (1366x768res) (Which most 720p televisions can interlace now) it requires 20% more bit rate to be comparable in video quality, is this extra bit rate supported? or does it depend on the television? In that fact, I know interlacing deals with two fields creating a faster refresh rate, but creates a “Twitter” and image quality is not as good as progressive scan, but is 1080i even worth formatting to? Final question, 720p or 1080i displayed on a television screen sizes of 42″-50″, will it be distorted or blurry considering 720p/1080i resolutions?
Your first sentence was understandable and correct. After that, not so much! LOL!!

Where ever you "learned" this from was all wet and did not know what they were talking about along with a lot of the rest of what you are citing in your question all the way down to the last sentence, which makes sense again.

It will not be distorted or blurry unless there is something wrong with the set in the first place. If you had some exotic test setup and two identical sets side by side which were displaying the same content, except one was either 720p or 1080i versus the other set displaying at 1080p, I would bet that the average person could walk up and do a quick compare and not even be able to tell the difference with most program content.
We (and that includes me) tend to become a little obsessive about things like buying a TV with the absolute best specifications... when there is no good reason to be that way. The fact is, a 720p set is going to give you a really great picture... especially if you are used to watching analog TV. Relax, doesn't get all wound up about specifications and especially if the info you are getting comes from Yahoo Answers. The fact is, there are relatively few people here who give you good answers and the average response here is just plain wrong. So find a TV that you can afford and whose picture you like and then just relax and enjoy it.
