Does anyone use twitter?

What does the "RT" mean? ANd how do you tweet what someone said and then add on to it?
Does the person who was the original tweeter get all of the responses when the re-tweet has RT infront of it? Sorry I'm new to twitter and don't really get it yet.
When the tweet has RT it is from the person retweeting it though. If you press the retweet button, the person's actual profile shows up on your profile. When there's the RT, it's like your own tweet. Sorry, I don't know how to explain it.
The reweet button also doesn't allow you to write your opinions, thoughts etc.
I don’t have a twitter but RT means retweet.
