Can you help me start up a playgroup?
Good afternoon everybody!
My name is Jennifer, and I live in Northern California. I am a Mama to 3 kids. My two boys are 6 & 3 and my little girl is 1. I have been looking for playgroups and for the life of me I can’t find any. I would like to start up my own playgroup. Can you help me with ideas on starting one? I would like to met 2-4 times a week, have a Mom’s night out once a month. Maybe having a scrapbook night twice a month. Where would you start in starting up a playgroup? Should I go on facebook, My Space, twitter, etc. Have any of you successfully started up your own playgroup? Any ideas or suggestions would be great. I would like to try to get it started up this weekend!

Meeting 2-4 times a week is a little much. All my play groups met once a week. With the ages of your kids so spread out, maybe try to create one group of older boys from kids at your boy’s schools, and another group for mornings geared toward toddlers. To find toddler moms, just keep your eyes open for women walking kids in your area. Maybe hang out at the park for a week or two and chat with other moms, sharing your idea. Go to a couple local preschools and pediatrician’s offices and ask if you can post a sign there for both play groups.
One more thought: See if your city has a local “mother’s club” and if not, start one. You could google mother’s club and you’ll find all kinds in various cities. If your city does not have one, find out from another club how to start one. Good luck! I’ve loved the groups I have been a part of.
