what will i still be able to do with my iphone, even though it’s not activated?

so i’m thinking about buying an iphone from someone on either craigslist or ebay. i wouldn’t be able to activate it because i have verizon, and a phone. but would i still be able to use the apps (ex. Text+, Facebook, Twitter)? and could i still take pictures?
i’m asking this because i can get an iphone for a lot cheaper then an itouch. i know on normal phones, even if they aren’t activated you can still use them to some extent and take pictures. would this be possible on the itouch? would i be able to use the Text+ app (free texting) even though the phone is not activated?

You will not be able to use Text+ on a iPhone that isn’t activated. Also you will not have 3G either you have to use WiFi just like the iPod touch. You will be able to use apps but agaiin with WiFi only.
